Rafal Medak is Director of Amazon Accounting Policy in Luxembourg, responsible for all policy matters in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) with global responsibilities for IFRS. His comprehensive technical accounting expertise encompasses, in addition to IFRS, US GAAP, and various local GAAPs throughout the region. In his role, Rafal also develops and delivers technical accounting training to global Accounting, Legal, and Finance teams.
With almost 30 years of experience, Rafal is a distinguished accounting professional whose career spans technology, e-commerce, and banking sectors. His expertise extends across technical accounting, financial reporting, financial instruments, auditing, product control, mergers and acquisitions, and valuations. This broad skill set has been cultivated through diverse roles throughout his career.
Before joining Amazon, Rafal held the position of Director in the Technical Accounting Group at Barclays Bank in London, UK. His previous experience includes various technical accounting, consulting and audit roles with KPMG in London and Warsaw.
Rafal holds a Master's degree in Economics, Banking, and Finance from the Catholic University of Lublin, Poland, and has maintained membership in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants since 2008.
